1. Previous Math Knowledge
- Review the material of your last math course before starting a
new math course.
- Start using tutors at the beginning of the semester. Don't
wait until you have problems.
2. Quality of Instruction
- Talk to your math teacher.
- Go to the student success seminar.
- Be knowledgeable about your learning style. Expand your
learning styles.
3. Level of Test Anxiety
- Go to the student success seminar.
- Read up on test anxiety.
- Improve your test taking skills.
4. Study Habits
- Develop a study schedule. Math should be studied every day.
Most students need to study at least 10 hours a week to get good
grades.
- Study efficiently. Find your best time to study and set it
aside for math. Also remember to set aside times for fun and
relaxation. Then you won't feel guilty at those times.
- Keep track of your grades and the hours studied. Increase the
study time if you don't get the grades you want.
- Improve your listening and note taking skills.
- Read your textbook and do your homework effectively.
- Control your study environment.

- Watch out for negative self-talk.
